The men's squad at Doncaster Rowing Club has seen considerable growth in recent years. Our seasoned group of Master's rowers has been joined by a steady stream of graduates from our learn to row courses. We pride ourselves on the way new rowers have been integrated into the squad and on our strong team spirit.
With a growth in numbers has come a more diverse squad and for 2017 we have introduced Novice, Senior and Masters sections to accommodate this.
Novices: Training Tuesday and Thursday 6pm-8pm, Sunday 10am-12. The novice section consists primarily of learn to row graduates, although this section also caters for less committed rowers and those who feel more comfortable rowing at this level. We do enter Novice crews in local regattas and heads and have achieved some decent performances. However the aim of the group is to work on technique and prepare novices for the next step in their rowing career.
Seniors: Training Wed and Fri 6pm-8pm, Sunday 7am-10am. Our Senior section is open to any member of the Men's squad prepared to commit to a more intense level of training both in our gym and on the water. Although in its early stages the section has already achieved some worthy wins at local Heads and regattas.
Masters: Training Tues and Thurs 6pm-8pm, Sunday 8am-10am. Our Masters section are very much the backbone of the Men's squad. Many of our most experienced and technically proficient rowers and scullers are to be found here. Our Masters vary from recreational crews through to crews who compete regularly and have achieved their fair share of wins in recent years. 2016 also saw our first Masters crew in a number of years compete at the Vesta Head.
